First of all, yes, Britt Bravo is my real name.  My maiden name is Britt Aageson.

I specialize in telling, and helping others to tell, stories about creating social change. I write for three blogs, produce and/or host three podcasts, and teach people how to blog and podcast. My local paper, the East Bay Express, named me the Best Podcaster/Blogger Most Dedicated to Social Change in 2007.

I speak and lead workshops about blogging, podcasting, how nonprofits, artists, and social entrepreneurs can use social media, and how people can create work they love.   I have presented at events such as the Bioneers, BlogHer Conference, Craigslist Nonprofit Boot Camp, eWomenNetwork Luncheon (Oakland), FIELD Project’s Scale Academy grantee meeting (a program of the Aspen Institute), Global Engagement Summit, Ladies Who Launch (Oakand), Making Media Connections Conference, Stanford Women’s Leadership Conference, Writing for Change Conference, United Way of Kern County’s Professional Development Conference for Nonprofits, San Francisco Writer’s Conference, NTEN’s We Are Media Workshop, and the San Francisco Bay Area YNPN Career Development Series.

I grew up in the small town of Mystic, CT and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area after I finished my B.A. in Sociology at Vassar College in 1991.  In 1993 I was certified as a  yoga instructor, and in 1994 I received an M.A. in Creation Spirituality from the Institute in Culture and Creation Spirituality at Holy Names College.   I’ve always worked for nonprofits, or socially responsible businesses like Mother Jones Magazine, Odwalla, TechSoup, and Streetside Stories.

In 1998, Carol Lloyd trained me to teach career workshops based on her book, Creating a Life Worth Living.  For the past 11 years I have coached hundreds of individuals on how to create work they love. I particularly enjoy working with artists, and people who want to create social change.

I live in Oakland, CA with my husband, Adriano Bravo, who is an on location sound mixer.  We have one cat, Dora, who thinks she is a dog.
